Left On Base is a baseball newsletter that often focuses on the labor and economics side. I typically write longform features, such as my work that can be found at Defector Media, but I also do reporting that is more of a fit for newsers or quick hits. Rather than discard any additional reporting, I decided to start this.
That’d be me, Jen Ramos-Eisen, a baseball labor reporter and economist who’s been covering baseball since 2013. I’m based in the Central Valley and, from time to time (more often than not), Las Vegas — the two places I grew up in. I am a member of BBWAA, IRE, SPJ, and AAJA.
That’s an Eric Stephen special. I asked for a pun relating to reporting that doesn’t end up in my longform features and he delivered.
Jeremy Nielsen and Ed Carroll.
Making sure editors get compensated for their work and offsetting any additional costs that reporting incurs. Unfortunately, doing journalism these days ain’t cheap. I want to ensure the work published at Left On Base is high quality journalism and that everything is done thoroughly.
“Left on base” is also something one finds in a baseball box score, often abbreviated to LOB. LOB … LOBster … it’s a joke.
